Assessor qualifications
Everything you need to become a qualified assessor in the UK - including CAVA and the three focused Awards.
To assess learners on almost any vocational or work-based qualification in the UK you need an RQF Level 3 assessor qualification. Most employers - FE colleges, apprenticeship providers, NHS trusts, care homes, construction firms - ask specifically for the Level 3 CAVA. If you only assess portfolios, or only need the assessment theory, one of the focused Awards may be enough.
You do not need to be a qualified teacher to become an assessor. If you also want to teach adults, add the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) alongside your assessor route.

The full Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement. Covers assessment theory plus practical assessment of competence in the workplace and vocationally related achievement. Choose this if you want the assessor qualification most employers ask for.
