How do you calculate staff turnover?
Divide the number of leavers in the period by the average headcount, then multiply by 100. Average headcount is the start figure plus the end figure, divided by 2.
Should I include people who were dismissed?
Most organisations report total turnover including all leavers, then separate voluntary turnover (resignations) to understand retention.
