Learning with purpose

Connect technical learning to the decisions you make.

A fire safety seminar may change a detail. A sustainability review may change a material choice. Record what you learned, how it will influence your work and where you need to develop next, without confidential project information.

01

Record what you did

Add the activity, date, provider and time spent. Courses are only the start - record supervision, reading and learning from practice too.

02

Capture what changed

Add a reflection while the learning is fresh: what you learned, why it matters and what you will do differently in practice.

03

Share when you choose

Export a clear PDF or CSV, or create a read-only link for an appraiser. You stay in control of your record.

  • Check the current ten Core Curriculum topics and record the appropriate topic for each learning activity.
  • The ARB scheme is separate. WorkplaceHero is not an ARB-approved recording platform.
  • Membership circumstances and competence-test requirements can differ. Check the official obligations for your own membership.
  • RIBA does not require attendance notes or certificates under its June 2026 compliance policy. You can still keep supporting evidence for your personal record.
  • There is no automatic RIBA-to-ARB transfer. Follow current MyARB declaration and review instructions separately.
  • Keep client names, project addresses and confidential information out of reflections and attached evidence.

WorkplaceHero helps you organise your CPD. Check current RIBA guidance for your role and circumstances. WorkplaceHero is not affiliated with or endorsed by RIBA. WorkplaceHero is an independent record-keeping tool. We do not accredit learning, certify compliance or guarantee that a regulator will accept your record - meeting your regulator's requirements remains your responsibility. We research regulator and professional body guidance from official sources, record the source and the date we last checked it, and review entries when rules change. Requirements can change without notice, so always confirm the current rules, exemptions and deadlines with your regulator or professional body before relying on them. If you spot something out of date, tell us and we will check and correct it. Report an update

Questions, answered

Before you start

How much CPD do practising RIBA Chartered Members need?
At least 35 hours each year, including 20 hours across the ten Core Curriculum topics, with at least two hours per topic. Other obligations, including mandatory competence tests where required, also apply.
Does RIBA require exactly 17.5 structured hours?
RIBA asks for at least half of CPD to be structured where possible. It is not an unconditional 17.5-hour minimum. Check the wording in the current official obligations.
Does meeting RIBA CPD meet ARB requirements?
Not automatically. ARB and RIBA have separate schemes. Check both if both apply to you and keep the required official records.
Does Passport replace the RIBA recording platform?
No. Passport is a separate personal log for learning, reflection and evidence. It does not submit to RIBA, sync records or confirm that your obligations have been met.
What does free Passport include?
Your personal CPD log, hours tracking, your own reflections, evidence attached to entries, CSV import and PDF or CSV record exports. No card or trial is required. PassportPro is optional. Passport does not decide whether an activity meets your body’s requirements or submit official records.
