Learning with purpose

Make space for the learning behind each decision.

A supervision conversation may challenge an assumption. Research may change how you explain a choice. Capture what you learned and its impact, without identifying the people you support. A personal record helps you prepare your own account of development.

01

Record what you did

Add the activity, date, provider and time spent. Courses are only the start - record supervision, reading and learning from practice too.

02

Capture what changed

Add a reflection while the learning is fresh: what you learned, why it matters and what you will do differently in practice.

03

Share when you choose

Export a clear PDF or CSV, or create a read-only link for an appraiser. You stay in control of your record.

The rules at a glance

Social Work England CPD and annual renewal

These requirements concern registered social workers in England, not every care worker or social workers registered elsewhere in the UK.

RequirementWhat appliesWhat to check
CPD recordsAt least 2 different pieces each registration yearRecord completed learning in your Social Work England online account
Peer reflectionAt least 1 of the two piecesDiscuss your CPD with a peer and record what you learned from their perspective
HoursNo prescribed minimumRelevance, reflection and impact matter, rather than a fixed hours total
Registration year1 December to 30 NovemberUse CPD from the correct registration year
Deadline30 NovemberComplete CPD recording and your separate registration renewal application by the deadline
  • Recording CPD is not the same as renewing registration: the renewal application and other requirements remain separate.
  • For 2026 renewal, use learning from 1 December 2025 to 30 November 2026. Submit by 11:59pm UK time on 30 November; a saved draft is not a submitted record.
  • Keep service users, families and colleagues unidentifiable in records and peer reflections.
  • Passport does not transfer entries to Social Work England. Complete the official record separately.

Your personal professional record

A record that stays with you

Keep the same personal Passport through changes of employer, role and working pattern. Your employer does not automatically see your personal reflections.

Private by default

Your employer does not automatically see personal reflections. You decide what to share.

Evidence alongside the learning

Attach supporting files to CPD entries and export a PDF or CSV for your own records. You decide what to share and must check what your body requires.

No lock-in

Download your record as a PDF or CSV whenever you need it.

WorkplaceHero is an independent record-keeping tool. We do not accredit learning, certify compliance or guarantee that a regulator will accept your record - meeting your regulator's requirements remains your responsibility. We research regulator and professional body guidance from official sources, record the source and the date we last checked it, and review entries when rules change. Requirements can change without notice, so always confirm the current rules, exemptions and deadlines with your regulator or professional body before relying on them. Questions, answered

Before you start

How many CPD hours does Social Work England require?
There is no prescribed hours minimum. Record at least two different pieces of CPD each registration year, including peer reflection on at least one.
Does supervision automatically meet the peer reflection requirement?
Not automatically. Record the peer discussion about your CPD and what you learned from their perspective. A supervision meeting alone is not a substitute for documenting peer reflection.
Does Passport replace my Social Work England account?
No. Use Passport to organise personal learning, reflections and evidence. You must record CPD in your Social Work England online account and renew registration separately.
What does free Passport include?
Your personal CPD log, hours tracking, your own reflections, evidence attached to entries, CSV import and PDF or CSV record exports. No card or trial is required. PassportPro is optional. Passport does not decide whether an activity meets your body’s requirements or submit official records.
