About this course
The Care Certificate is the agreed set of standards that new health and social care workers should complete during induction. This programme covers all 15 standards as structured e-learning.
The e-learning provides the knowledge element. Competence must also be observed and signed off in the workplace by an assessor, so the course is designed to sit alongside supervised practice.

Course content
The course is delivered in short, bite-size sections that learners can stop and restart at any point.

Your role and values
Standards 1-6: understanding your role, personal development, duty of care, equality and diversity, work in a person-centred way and communication.
- Section 2
Privacy and safeguarding
Standards 7-11: privacy and dignity, fluids and nutrition, mental health, dementia and learning disability, safeguarding adults and safeguarding children.
- Section 3
Health and clinical basics
Standards 12-14: basic life support, health and safety, and handling information.
- Section 4
Infection prevention
Standard 15: infection prevention and control in health and social care settings.
Who it is for
New starters in health and social care, care assistants, support workers and healthcare assistants completing induction, and employers who need consistent induction evidence.
Entry requirements: None. Designed for induction, ideally within the first 12 weeks of employment.
How it is delivered
Fully online and self-paced
Learners work through the course at their own pace and can pause and resume where they left off.
Any device
Works on desktop, laptop, tablet and mobile, with audio, video and written transcripts throughout.
Interactive throughout
Scenarios, exercises and images keep learners engaged rather than clicking through slides.
Knowledge checks
Short checks at the end of each section so learners can see what has landed before moving on.
Average completion time is around 15 hours, though learners can take as long as they need and return as often as they like.
How it is assessed
Knowledge checks run through each standard, with an assessment at the end of the e-learning. Practical competence for each standard must be observed and signed off in the workplace.
Certification
Learners receive a digital certificate for the e-learning knowledge element. Full Care Certificate sign-off also requires workplace observation of competence by an appropriately qualified assessor within your organisation.
