Second-career teaching and assessing qualifications for professionals nearing retirement

You have 20, 30 or 40 years of hard-won industry experience. A regulated teaching or assessing qualification lets you turn that into flexible, well-paid part-time work - training the next generation on your terms.

Whether you want a full second career or just a few paid days a month, we help you get qualified quickly and online.

Who this is for

  • You have deep sector experience you want to pass on
  • You want flexible, part-time or freelance work
  • You are winding down from full-time work but not ready to stop
  • You are being asked to train or assess informally already
  • You want a nationally recognised qualification, not just a certificate of attendance

Why this path fits

For a career changer at this stage, the highest-value combination is a Level 3 teaching qualification plus a Level 3 assessing qualification (CAVA). The teaching qualification lets you plan and deliver training. The CAVA lets you assess apprentices, NVQs and vocational learners - work that colleges, training providers and end-point assessment organisations are consistently short of.

Together they open the door to freelance rates of £250-£450 per day for experienced professionals, without needing to commit to full-time employment. Both are Ofqual-regulated and permanent - once you have them, you have them for life.

We deliver everything online with tutor support, so you can fit study around family, hobbies or a phased retirement without commuting to a classroom.
